IMM Update

I thought I should update on this because I haven't posted one in three weeks. The thing is because I've only gotten three books, one of them being BALLAD by Maggie Stiefvater, I haven't read Lament, but I read Shiver and I loved it! Then I got this kind of graphic novel from scholastic that's like a how to book about dating vampires or something? I don't remember the title. Then I got a package from my grandma with a writing book in it that I'm very excited about along with some pictures that she developed that we took over my summer in California! That made me happy. But otherwise, that's it, I didn't feel the need to post a post for only one book. Sorry! Hopefully next week I'll get something!

• I got this one for review, it was a bit of surprise, actually because I didn't know if I was getting it for review or not. I'm going to read it tonight (I wrote this at 11:53 on Saturday) and am really excited for it!

I could show you all the books I've gotten this summer since I haven't done IMM since June I think. But I can't yet. I have a huge box of books being shipped to me and they will arrive, not tomorrow, but the Monday after. So, instead, I'll just wait for the box to come and then do a photoshoot of my books.

My lovely (MOST AWESOME) blogger friend, Sarah, sent this one to me and she got it signed by Kimberly! For me! Kimberly probably wrote the coolest autograph in the book when she signed it. Thanks Sarah and Kimberly!

Girl on the Other Side by Deborah Kerbel

I was asked to review this one too and I couldn't say no! I loved Deborah's first book, Mackenzie, Lost and Found so I'm really looking forward to reading this one. It is also a pretty short book so I'm hoping to get to it soon.

Give Up The Ghost by Megan Crewe

I was suprised and so happy when I recieved this one because I had no idea when it was coming! I can't wait to read it! I love the cover on this one.

I got The Awakening on Monday I think. Carol and Yan told me I need the sequel before I started The Summoning, so, I got it. I found it at the Borders Express store in the mall while my grandma was searching for her book club book, Olive Kitteridge, which they did not have.

Then on Thursday, my grandma and I went up to downtown Santa Cruz where we walked all along Santa Cruz and came across a few bookstores. The first was Bookshop Santa Cruz (An Indie! Whoo! Go Indies!) which was so freaking amazing, you have no idea. They had a FANTASTIC Young Adult section and they had an atrium and everything! It was amazing. But first off I looked for Twenty Boy Summer, and found it, luckily! My local Borders didn't have it! Then I looked for LYHYMY, and, again, found it! I was so happy. Then I was mentally trying to remember the books on my checklist, so I was going through the ones that I remembered and I was looking for them, and I found Castration Celebration! I was so happy to find all of these books. Then I only had three books, and they were all hardcovers, so I wanted to leave there with a paperback for some reason. So I looked and looked and looked. Then I saw City of Bones, I know Carol is in love with this series and I've heard some great things, and the paperback was so shiny with pretty colors, so, I got it. Oh! My grandma got my a t-shirt at the Bookshop also, it's navy blue with some block lighter blue letters spelling READ. Simple but completely awesome. :)

Then we headed down the street some more and came across another Borders. A TWO-story Borders. I'm like obsessed with two story bookstores, so this was really cool, even though there weren't any books upstairs, just a Seattles Best Coffee place, so I didn't even go up there, but still. It was awesome. PLUS, I had a 25% off any one item coupon AND they had a sale for buy four books get the 5th FREE, so, ya know, why not? So I looked and I decided on the last group above. Cool, huh? I was in my happy place this week. :)

Sarah actually sent me this one, she's so sweet! I'm doing an OTO with her, um, TOMORROW, so check it out, it's a really good one!

Being Nikki by Meg Cabot

I won this ARC at a contest over at Laura's blog. I had really wanted it too, I'm glad that all the books I have in this series are ARC's though. I like things to match. :)

So I went to Borders and bought some books. This one looked really good. It wasn't on my list, but I saw it and just wanted to own it. Sarah at Sarah's Random Musings was going to let me borrow her copy, but I wanted to buy it instead.

Wherever Nina Lies by Lynn Weingarten

I've wanted this book for a really long time, so I'm glad I got to buy it! It looks really good and the HB is to pretty.

The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong

I actually didn't know what this book was really about until I saw it and picked it up, and it looked so good I had to buy it too. I hear it's really good, but people also said not to read it until I get the sequel, too bad Borders didn't have it stocked! I probably would have bought it too!

Shrinking Violet by Danielle Joseph

You can thank Khy for making me get this book, it looks really cute and I've heard great things about it, but I was told to get a debs books and this is the one to get, so I can't wait to read it!

So, that's it. Well, not really. I received my Little, Brown books, but they came from UPS the day I left for California, so they are in MN right now. I'm having my mom ship them to me tomorrow, hopefully she does! I reallllllllly want them.

And to anyone who is wondering, my flight went perfectly and I got home safely and It's been going good! Though my grandma was sick, so I might catch a little something. Oh, well. It leaves time for reading. But, my grandpa let me use a laptop he had for vacations for the summer and I am LOVING having a laptop. I just lay in bed and have it on my lap! It's perfect!

Also, I am going on a trip the end of the second week of June down to Santa Monica for awhile, then to LA for a bit, and we're going to go have a special lunch with Sarah Dessen too and meet Khy! So, whooo!

I had a decent week.

This is actually a repeat copy, I already had bought a copy from Amazon. I was excited to read this but after reading Leaving Paradise my hopes kind of crashed. But now I still have it for review, so I'll have to read it.

CK emailed me in January wondering if she could put me on her list for her publisher to send ARC's and I happily said yes. She said they would mail it out the first week of March, and look! It's here! I'm so happy!

So that's it! I'm going to go finish Perfect Fifths now . . . (Yes! I haven't finished it yet!)

So, I only received 1 books this week! One! I was kind of shocked about it, but nonetheless, I still received a book that I was very excited about!

Artichokes Heart by Suzanne Supplee (ARC)

Rosemary Goode is smart and funny and loyal and the best eyebrow waxer in Spring Hill, Tennessee. But only one thing seems to matter to anyone, including Rosemary: her weight. And when your mom runs the most successful (and gossipy) beauty shop in town, it can be hard to keep a low profile. Rosemary resolves to lose the weight, but her journey turns out to be about everything but the scale. Her life-changing, waist-shrinking year is captured with brutal honesty and humor, topped with an extra large helping of Southern charm. A truly uncommon novel about an increasingly common problem.

This one looks really good. I did a OTO post with Suzanne last week and she was a pleasure to work with. Anyway, Suzanne had said that she had a few ARCs leftover, so I offered to review her novel for her. It looks really good and I love the cover a ton, it makes me hungry! Oh, and by the way, I saw this when I was linking it that Artichokes Heart on Amazon is a bargain price right now! A hardcover for $6.30! How can you not take that deal?

Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles (Paperback)

Momma tells the children all about their rich grandparents, and how Chris and Cathy and the twins will live like princes and princesses in their grandparents' fancy mansion. The children are only too delighted by the prospect. But there are a few things that Momma hasn't told them.

She hasn't told them that their grandmother considers them "devil's spawn" who should never have been born. She hasn't told them that she has to hide them from their grandfather if she wants to inherit his fortune. She hasn't told them that they are to be locked away in an abandoned wing of the house with only the dark, airless attic to play in. But, Momma promises, it's only for a few days....

Then the days stretch into months, and the months into years. Desperately isolated, terrified of their grandmother, and increasingly convinced that their mother no longer cares about them, Chris and Cathy become all things to the twins and to each other. They cling to their love as their only hope, their only strength -- a love that is almost stronger than death.

I got these from the library on Monday. I've already read Flowers in the Attic, so hopefully you can expect a review for that soon enough.

Swoon by Nina Malkin (ARC)

This one came for review from Simon Pulse. It looks extremely good. It comes out this May.

Oblivion Road by Alex McAulay (Paperback)

I recieved the above 7 books from Amazon on Wednesday. I've been waiting forever for most of these books, so I'm glad I finally have them Also, the pictures next to them are pictures I took when I was taking them out of the box. Thanks Carol for making me take the pictures.

In Too Deep by Jennifer Banash (Paperback)

(J/K Mom and Dad! <3) But, anyhow, I'm happy, I've been waiting for this book to get here from Berkley since the beginning of January, and it looks great, so I'll have to add it to my pile!
